For years, the Odessa Peace Officer Memorial Foundation has been working on a memorial honoring officers lost in the line of duty. Now, that memorial is nearly finished.
The foundation has been poured, benches laid out, and memorial plaques set up. Soon, a statue of the Archangel Michael holding a fallen police officer will be added.
The memorial will be dedicated Friday at 9 AM. Planning for the memorial began in 2007, when officers Arlie Jones, Scott Gardner, and Abel Marquez were killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
