Big 2 News received a phone call a month ago, it was from a concerned person who had a problem with an event that was scheduled to take place at the Midland Courtyard Marriott. Turns out he wasn't the only one concerned and this ‘swinger’s convention’ was canceled.

If you log on to this swinger's convention website, texaspassionevents.com, you'll find out all about this Midland event called ‘Hotel Takeover’. Couples were invited to come out and enjoy a hedonistic adventure. On the website, there's response from people from the area that said they were excited for this event to come to Midland. But, unfortunately for them, the swingers’ event will no longer take place in the Tall City.

"I just think they like to have sex with multiple partners," said our Concerned Caller.

A practice he doesn't agree with and says these types of conventions should be held elsewhere, like nature resorts not a normal hotel.

"I'm just glad it was canceled, it's just better for everyone involved," said the Concerned Caller.

Big 2 News spoke with the manager at the Marriott and he said he told us that the event was scheduled there, but due to the nature of the event, corporate offices canceled it. On the Texas Passion website, organizers posted a message to friends saying "yesterday the hotel management in Midland notified us that they were forced to cancel our contract and our convention".

Much like Big 2 got a call from a concerned people, so did the Midland District Attorney Teresa Clingman and that's how she found out about the group and the website.

"From a personal standpoint, I was extremely offended," says Clingman.

But from an official standpoint she had to find out if what she was reading was legal or not and sent investigators out to speak with the hotel.

"I looked at what they were proposing in their advertising to be doing such as between hours, they would have full nudity in the hallways of certain floors," says Clingman.

After a full investigation, turns out the passions group wasn't doing anything illegal and this type of nudity would not be taking place.

"The hotel had said in their contract, it specifically required that, that not go on," explains Clingman.

With no laws being broke, the DA's office couldn't do anything about it, so they left it alone. Clingman said she has no idea how the Marriott corporate offices were notified.

"From my standpoint I'm happy that it’s canceled," says Cligman.

We did find an email address linked to the passion events website, but our attempts to contact them have not been returned. You can read on their website that the passions group plans to hold this event in a different city.
