When the Midland City Council voted to raise the tax rate, there was a lot of controversy. Many people came to the hearings to speak out against that increase.
There wasn't any drama with the Midland County commissioners Thursday, as they made the decision on their tax rate. That's because they chose to keep it at the same level, 21 cents.
"That is the lowest tax rate in the state of Texas for any county," midland county commissioner Randy Prude told Big 2. "And we're pleased to be able to tell citizens we've been able to maintain the lowest rate."
Commissioner Prude also says that the county has maintained good reserves, and they're looking forward into moving into their new courthouse in a few weeks.
