Big Spring Hosts 4th TEA Party

Residents of Big Spring gathered this weekend for a TEA Party. As most already know...TEA, in this case, stands for Taxed Enough Already.

This was Big Springs 4^th TEA Party, which again created an opportunity for people to express more conservative views on government. It's also a way of finding people that are interested in politics, but don't know how to get involved. More importantly, some of the people we spoke to at the event said it's all about education, and creating change in Washington.

"To educate the people of what this country was founded on...the values it was founded on: limited government, low taxes, individual freedoms and rights and liberties. And so I think it's just getting back to the Founding Fathers...getting back to the constitution," Jim Landtroop, whom is running for Texas Representative in District 85, said.

"We don't feel like Washington is listening to us. The will of the people is completely being trampled by the elected people in Washington, D.C. who seem to have forgotten who elected them and sent them there to do the will of the people," Suzanne Haney, Howard Co. chairman for Landtroop, said.

More than 100 people showed up to the event Saturday, which was held at the Heart of the City Park in Big Spring. State Senator Kel Seliger was one of many speakers at the event. He talked about how the government has essentially over-stepped its bounds, and said they need to do a better job of serving the American people.
