Man Arrested For 2008 Odessa Assault

A man accused of a 2008 crime is now behind bars.
Joseph Gilbert Betancourt was picked up and charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Friday. He's accused of choking an Odessa man in a pick-up after two other people invited him inside.
The victim later said he was beaten and threatened by three men. A different man was arrested back in 2008 and charged with part of the crime, but Betancourt is facing stiffer charges.
He's now being held on $40,000 bond.
