Odessa residents gathered Thursday night to honor fallen officers and all of those killed in the attacks on 9/11.
The city of Odessa and American State Bank hosted this American Tribute ceremony at Memorial Gardens Park. By the end, 3000 flags were up and flying.
"Every flag represents someone who was killed that day, Senior V.P. of American State Bank Linda Terrell told Big 2. "Innocent bystanders, the first responders who were trying to help. It's important for our history. It's important for our younger children not to forget what happened on our own soil. We were attacked on our own soil. "
The Odessa Fire Department and the color guards presented the flags. After that, the Ector County Sheriff's Office and Odessa Police lay down wreaths in honor of the county's fallen officers.
