The founding President of Midland College has passed away.
Dr. Al Langford came to the Permian Basin in 1969 as Dean of the Midland Campus of the Permian Basin Junior College District.
In 1972, the Texas House voted to create an independent Midland College District, and Langford was named President. He kept that position until 1981. During that time the school grew from more than 600 students to 3000.
Dr. Langford was 83 years old.
