An Odessa murder trial has been delayed after the defendant withdrew his insanity defense.
Jan David Clark, 63, was scheduled to stand trial Tuesday. He's accused of killing his wife Susan in their West Odessa home in February 2008. Clark claims he accidentally killed his wife during an attempted exorcism.
The Odessa American reports it's still not clear why Clark abandoned his insanity defense on the eve of his trial. But the move prompted prosecutors to request additional time to prep for trial.
The trial is now tentatively scheduled for October 18.
