The Texas Legislature is going to face some tough challenges when they head back to Austin in January. Chief among them is a shrinking budget and a need to make some tough cuts.
That's why Texas State Senator Kel Seliger has been heading around the 31st district, talking to voters about what's coming. He believes that the state will come out of the recession on good footing, and faster than many other states.
Seliger spoke at U.T.P.B. in Odessa today. He feels cuts are still necessary in order to weather the storm.
"Today gives us a chance to talk about interaction between the state legislature and the citizens," Seliger told Big 2.
Seliger also asked the crowd what their concerns were. A lot of people voiced concern over tort laws and how to control medical mal-practice lawsuits to keep them from going out of control.
Seliger will hold a Town Hall meeting in Midland County on October 6th.
