There's only a few weeks left to become a registered voter, and on Wednesday...state representatives were out in Odessa reminding folks about how important it is to vote. It was all part of the 2010 VOTEXAS Road Tour, a statewide initiative designed to answer the questions when, where, and how...when it comes to voting.

The crew was setup at the Permian Basin Fair, and used a popular game show to teach people about voting.

"We're encouraging people to stop by and play Jeopardy. And what's nice about it is you have a little fun while you learn about the election process, and also it kind of reminds you about how much you do know about the process," Hope Andrade, Texas Secretary of State, said.

Whether you know a lot about the process or just a little bit doesn't matter, because there's plenty of places to get the information.

"If they have have not received a new card, they're supposed to get a new card last year. If they don't have the new card, they need to come back to the office and register. We are registering people at the democrat party, the republican party, and out here," Armando Rodriguez, Ector County Commissioner for Precinct 4, said.

"October 4th is the last day to register. October 18th...early voting starts. We always recommend that people take advantage of early voting. And November 2nd...Election Day," Andrade said.

This was stop number five out of 22. Next, they're headed to San Angelo to spread the word about the importance of voting.

“It's very important because if you don't vote...you can't really give an opinion. Voting is the way you give an opinion on how you feel," Rodriguez said.

The group you just saw will also be doing commercials, which will start airing next Monday. For more information visit www.votexas.org.
