Student Arrested for Bringing Weapons to School

ODESSA -- ECISD Police arrested a sixth grader at Jordan Elementary on Thursday after getting a report that he had a gun and a knife. Now the student has been taken to the Ector County Youth Center, where he's facing felony charges.

Officers say they don't believe the student meant to hurt anyone with the weapons, and simply brought them to the Elementary School to show off to friends.  The gun wasn't loaded, and the student didn't have any ammunition.

The student gave the gun to another sixth grader, who told a teacher. That's how ECISD Police were brought in.  The student was then arrested without any serious disruption.
