Some drivers in Midland were getting tickets Tuesday and it might have surprised them.
Cops were out in force at several intersections, including checking to see if people were wearing their seat belts and if their car registrations were still valid. People driving with expired registration or inspection stickers got ticketed.
It's an end-of-the-month tactic used by police in other states, such as New York, and some drivers said it was a little frustrating.
"We were supposed to be getting to a movie an hour early and now it looks like we'll be on time, " one driver told Big 2.
"All the officers are out here working are actually on their day off, and are working on a STEP grant that they receive from the state," added Sgt. Kyle Sullivan of the Midland Police Department.
M.P.D. says they also caught some bigger violations through the stops, including a man who had marijuana in the car with him.
