Fees on airlines in the U.S. are soaring.
A USA Today study found that the nations biggest carriers have increased fares by as much as 50 percent compared to last year. Nearly half now charge priority boarding fees, and others charge for checked bags or changed reservations. Those fees have helped airlines make more than $2 billion in the second quarter of 2010.
