Wagner-Noel Center Launches Paver Stone Campaign

    The new Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center launched their paver campaign Tuesday.
     U.T.P.B. wants to honor donors with engraved stones in front of the still-under-construction building with any name they choose.
    With this new state-of-the-art performing arts center coming to the Basin in September, U.T.P.B. is giving donors an opportunity to leave their mark on pavement.
    "Because its a one of a kind. It is the brightest star in Texas. It is is the brightest star in the universe," said Carol Roberts-Spence.
    Roberts-Spence serves as Executive Director of the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center and announced a way for the community to take part in this new venture. People can now purchase a stone in front of the building where Spence says "you can be a part of history "
    The Wagner-Noel is going to be a state-of-the-art venue between Midland and Odessa. Students at U.T.P.B. will also study there at the new Rey Music Academic Center.
    "Its an awesome facility. It will be an emblem for the university as a whole when it opens," said U.T.P.B President Dr. David Watts. "My wife and I will be giving $500 initially. This is an opportunity for families, individuals, and businesses in the range between $500 and $5,000 to make a contribution."
    Contributors could give up to four levels of payment.
    "$5,000 which depends on the font size and proximity to the front door," Watts added. "There's $2.500 and $100 and $500."
    With about 160 workers each day the Wagner-Noel is set to be finished by September 2011. So anyone who wants to contribute should do so by January of this coming year.
    "Its so cool that there are people actually for the rest of their lives can come by and say, I was here, I can prove it, there's my name," said Watts.
    Anyone who buys a piece of pavement will receive an invitation to the gala opening ahead of the public in 2012. To learn more or donate to this facility go to wagnernoel.com.
