The C.A.F. Airsho flys into town this weekend, bringing with it all the thrills.
Stunt plane pilot Jan Collmer let me tag along on a preview flight of the Fina Extra before the Airsho begins. And that's just a taste of what people could be expecting this weekend.
Pilot Jan Collmer listed the scary tricks I did up in the air.
"We piruetted and came right back straight down with the smoke on so you can see where we'd been.."
My day began with a lesson on how to pull a parachute, and then they buckled me in. In a matter of seconds I was up in the air, and back down again. The Fina extra plane is going to be flying at the C.A.F. Airsho.
"We're back in Midland now probably for the 20th year we have been doing this show, " says Collmer.
Engines will be starting in honor of those who served in World War II.
"They are wonderful men and its a privilege to be able to fly in the show based on their exploits in World War II," says Collmer.
Airsho goers will have the opportunity to see the real planes that were used during wartime.
"Most of the aircrafts that fly actually flew during World War II and the loving hands of the C.A.F. kept these planes flying," says Collmer.
Collmer promises thrills at this weekends Airsho and hopes it sheds light on a war so far back in history.
"In our history books now world war ii gets maybe two paragraphs...There going to write a whole book out here Saturday and Sunday...Its a lot of fun," says Collmer.
The Fina Extra will join C.A.F's B-29 Fifi in flight this weekend. Attendance is set to break records this year with over 10,000 expected to be there.
