Some M.I.S.D. students took a trip to the museum Tuesday, without straying too far from the classroom. That's all thanks to the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum.
The physical museum is in Hobart, OK, but the facility's "Roadshow and Classroom" trailer is in the Permian Basin this week. On Tuesday, the trailer stopped at two elementary schools in the Tall City, including Emerson Elementary. The roadshow is part of the Lone Star State's curriculum.
Tommy Franks Institute educator Celia Brickell says that "in Texas, it meets the Social Studies requirements for the 6th Grade, for the Middle East and Asia."
The exhibit shows items that the former general picked up while in the Middle East. These include children's toys and weapons.
