MIDLAND -- Midland's new Tennis Center won't be open until next summer, but outreach programs are already underway.
The Executive Director of the Bush Tennis Center was at Hillcrest Monday, teaching kids some of the fundamentals of the game. This is just one example of how the tennis center is being used for more than just a place to play the game.
Luis Valdez, Executive Director of the Bush Tennis Center says that along with teaching balloon tennis, "we also have [instructors teaching them] paddle tennis, and so as to the individual progresses, we start taking them out on the tennis courts."
They're also offering an after-school program for students at the Midland Independent School District. The 16-court tennis center - which will be located in Northwest Midland, along Briarwood --  is expected to open August 2011.
If anyone would like to make a donation, or learn more about the center and it's programs, they should visit www.midlandtenniscenter.org.
