MIDLAND -- A former M.I.S.D. employee accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the school is now expected to plead guilty to the charges.
Former Midland Freshman High. secretary Anette Brewer Fitzhugh was arrested back in August after the district noticed some strange activity going on in the school's activity fund. After investigating the case, they found that $60,000 had gone missing from the account. Fitzhugh, who had worked for the district for over four years, is accused of sending herself roughly 50 checks from that account.
Fitzhugh's defense attorney has said she plans to plead guilty by this Thursday. She could face up to 30 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
