Midland Man Sentenced For Tax Evasion

MIDLAND -- A Midland businessman will spend 57 months behind bars after failing to pay his taxes.
Hector Garcia-Ponce, 55, is headed to federal prison after illegally structuring cash withdrawals over the course of four years. According to reports, he'll also have to pay a $150,000 fine, and once hes out of jail, he'll spend three years on supervised release.
Garcia-Ponce worked at Hector's Pipe Company in Midland. He gradually withdrew a total of $3 million from local banks to avoid paying income taxes.
