ECTOR COUNTY -- Authorities have gotten into a standoff with a person after attempting to serve a blue warrant for a parole violation.
This all started around 2pm Thursday afternoon in the 6900 block of Kermit Avenue, not far from Yukon.
Ector County Sheriff's Deputies were serving a warrant at a home there, but the man then ran back into his home. That's when deputies grew concerned and locked down the area, fearing he might have a weapon.
Some roads have been shut down, and people are being diverted to other places.
ECISD had to change bus pick up times from the Alternative Education Center on Yukon to get the students out of there sooner, but no actual bus stops are affected.
After time passed, the deputies fired tear gas into the home and then went inside. At that point they found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
