MIDLAND -- The Midland Independent School District is appealing to people's sweet tooth to try and raise some money with H.E.B.'s "Cakes for Computers."
H.E.B. baked the biggest cake in Texas - 12 feet by 24 feet - just in time for Friday's Midland Lee - Midland High football game. Baking that cake was no easy task.
"The cake actually took about 55 hours of decorator time, and then there probably 10 hours that went into prep work ahead of that," H.E.B. Midland Unit Director Bob Murphy told Big 2.
The cake is on display at the Midland H.E.B. Thursday and Friday, and then will be cut and sold when H.E.B. opens its doors on Saturday morning. Anyone can get a piece of this monstrous cake for only $5, and the money is used to raise money for computers at Midland high schools.
