ODESSA -- Odessa Police are warning residents about a scam involving their own name.
Odessa Police say a man has been calling around and claiming to be with the police department. That man says he's collecting donations for the K-9 unit, although he is actually not a member of the department.
Police want to remind everyone that the department does not solicit donations over the phone or door-to-door. Anyone that gets one of these calls is asked to report it to police.
