ODESSA -- A woman who pleaded guilty to embezzlement has been sentenced.
48-year-old Susan Bryan has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison. Police say Bryan opened a line of credit at First Basin Credit Union (where she worked) in her sister's name. Over two years, she gave herself loans to that account.
The Odessa American reports that during yesterday's sentencing, Bryan acknowledged that she stole the money, but explained that her son had been diagnosed with cancer and the money was being used to pay for medical bills.
Along with her prison term, Bryan was ordered to pay roughly $24,000 dollars in restitution.
