MIDLAND -- The Midland City Council considered an ordinance that would effect where people can and can not park in residential neighborhoods.
This is the second time council members have discussed putting restrictions on cars being parked in the front yard of a home. They actually held a public hearing on the matter earlier this year to get feedback from the public.
"Their concern is based on the effect it has on property values or their ability to sell their home," City Council member John James told Big 2. "So what we've tried to do is craft an ordinance that protects property values while at the same time creates a number of exceptions for areas of the community that didn't develop the same way."
The current ordinance allows one car to be parked in the front yard. The new one, if it passes, would prohibit all cars from parking in the front yard unless the residence meets certain criteria.
The council will be discussing the matter further in Tuesday's meeting.
