Tire Blowout Causes Big Grass Fire Near Midland

MIDLAND -- A truck's tire blowout caused a serious grass fire east of Midland Wednesday.
    A truck's tire blew out on the 4300 block of East Interstate 20, sparking the blaze. Then the winds carried the fire all the way to County Road 1115 and FM 307 in Greenwood. The blaze ended up covering more than 40 acres. It also threatened some structures and homes in the area, although none of them were damaged.
    Four fire units from Midland were able to contain that blaze, but people who live or travel near I-20 and FM 307 should still  be careful, since dry and windy conditions can spread fire quickly.
