Peeping Tom in Tanning Salon

It's something that happens far too often...people are secretly recorded while changing their clothes. It happens in dressing rooms at retail shops and in tanning salons across the world. Big 2 spoke with a woman on Friday who said she always knew it could happen. She just never thought it would happen to her.

"You see it on CNN or Dateline and you don't ever think it would really happen to yourself, but it does. There are crazy people," the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

She tans at least five times every week at Coconut Beach Tanning Salon. On Thursday, she had just arrived and was undressing when she caught something out of the corner of her eye. She looked, but saw nothing.

"So I continued to get undressed and I looked up again...you know that feeling to look up. I looked up and there was a hand with a camera," she said.

She says she stared at it in shock...speechless and wondering what to do.

"I wasn't completely undressed yet, but bottom half was. So I covered myself as much as possible and kind of jumped into the bed," she said.

She eventually called police, who have begun investigating the case. But the damage had already been done.

"I will no longer tan there and I don't even know if I can anywhere. I just wouldn't feel comfortable. I probably won't for a long time," she said.

She said she questions where the video might end up, and wonders if she's the only one that's been secretly recorded.

"There are underage girls that tan in there. I see them every time I'm in there...16 and 17 year old little girls," she said.

Big 2 contacted the Midland Police Department about all of this, and they told us they can't comment at this time for fear that it will jeopardize the investigation.

The owners and staff of Coconut Beach Tanning Salon sent us this statement on Friday: We have had a complaint that one customer may have attempted to view or photograph another customer during a visit, and are conducting an investigation and intend to cooperate fully with the authorities as to their official investigation in regard to the complaint. We, due to our efforts to protect the privacy of our patrons, cannot discuss the facts of this complaint or the ongoing investigation.

Keep it tuned to Big 2 News for more on this developing story.
