ODESSA -- The Basin's dry windy weather has resulted in several grass fires recently. During Monday morning's meeting, Ector County Commissioners discussed whether or not the conditions were bad enough to implement a burn ban.
"We do have some areas in the county that are very dry, and are considered dangerous," Commissioner Greg Simmons told Big 2. "On an average, though, for Ector County, overall, we didn't feel like the dryness has reached that critical point where we would implement a county-wide burn ban."
While a burn ban was not put in place for Ector County, commissioners want to remind residents to be very cautious when it comes to grilling or doing anything else that might spark a fire.
