With most counties opting out of a burn ban, including Ector County, the Texas Division of Emergency Management is sending out a warning of their own. They say that people are responsible for setting roughly 90 percent of all Texas wildfires. They urge all drivers to be very careful when pulling off on the side of the road since the heat of the car can ignite vegetation.
T.D.E.M. also wants people to exercise caution when burning trash and tossing a cigarette out of the car window. They recommend keeping a fire extinguisher handy at all times.
