Jeffs Extradited To Texas

SAN ANGELO -- Warren Jeffs has been extradited to Texas.
The 54-year-old prophet of the polygamous F.L.D.S. Church was in custody in Utah, but last month a Salt Lake City district judge granted a Texas extradition request.
"Warren Jeffs is facing three charges in the state of Texas, two of them relate to sexually assaulting a child," said Texas Attorney General's Office Communications Directer Jerry Strickland. "[These are] very serious felony offenses in the state of Texas, and the Attorney General's will prosecute him for these offenses."
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly happened at a retreat at a ranch near Eldorado. Jeffs was taken into the Tom Green Courthouse in San Angelo Wednesday morning, and he's being held in the Reagan County Jail.
