MIDLAND -- Christmas falls on a Saturday this year, but don't expect any Christmas deliveries from the U.S. Postal Service on that day.

The U.S. Post Office is gearing up for its busiest season yet, running up until Christmas Eve, which is a Friday. Postmasters say that their offices will close at 5 PM every day during the week leading up to Christmas.

Midland Postmaster Jeff Drake says that with every package, people should attach a 70 cent confirmation fee. That fee lets you know when your package has been delivered.

If you want to send your packages through Parcel Post (or "snail mail") they need to be in the mail by December 15th. You can also send mail first class by December 20th, Priority Mail by December 21st or Express Mail by December 22nd.

The deadline for Express or Priority Mail sent internationally is December 20th.
