BIG SPRING -- Howard County Commissioners discussed whether or not to pass a fireworks ban on Monday.

County Commissioners passed a burn ban in November. But at Monday's meeting, they decided not to pass a fireworks ban before New Year's. Howard County Judge Mark Barr said that according to the state, such a ban would need to be passed 21 days in advance. This means that it's too late to pass such a ban.

Judge Barr also said he hopes Monday's decision will help firework retailers.
