BIG SPRING -- Big Spring Council members had the first reading of a resolution that would allow voters to limit the number of consecutive terms that can be held by the city mayor or a council member Tuesday.

The vote passed by a narrow margin, and a second reading will take place in January.

Another item on the council's agenda was selecting two new members to serve on the Colorado River Municipal District Board. In the end, they chose Jim Percell and Dr. John Meyers.

The board will work to help maintain an adequate supply of the best quality water possible (at a reasonable cost) for the area it serves in West Texas.
