MIDLAND -- The Midland City Council made some big decisions regarding the Scharbauer Sports Complex during Tuesday night's meeting.

Council members gave the Midland RockHounds their blessing to take over marketing, promotions, and management for the sports center for one year. It's a challenge that the team is more than ready to take on.

"A lot of good events have come here," RockHounds General Manager Monty Hoppel told Big 2. "We want to keep those events. We want to expand and see if there's more events we can bring, and really promote the complex."

The contract is worth more than $68,000 - an investment the city hopes will pay off with more money and more events at the center.
