MIDLAND -- If you're buying electronic appliances for the holidays, it might be worth it to get energy efficient ones.

A rebate program started on Monday in the Lone Star State for energy efficient appliances. About $10 million is available for consumers through the mail in rebate program, which follows an earlier online rebate program that caused problems for a lot of customers who tried to register.

Buying energy efficient appliances pays off over time as well.

"The benefit on that of course is just the benefit of getting them products that will save them money in the long run," Best Buy Appliance Supervisor Benny Saenz told Big 2. "With technology now a days, they've improved on the technology without using more energy."

Energy efficient heat pumps, air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators and more are eligible for the rebates.
