AUSTIN -- The weather in West Texas has been very dry lately, and other parts of the state have been dealing with the same conditions.

Those dry conditions have sucked all the moisture out of vegetation, and raised wildfire danger across the Lone Star State.

Now, Governor Rick Perry has issued a disaster proclamation for 244 of Texas' 254 counties because of the dry spell. Perry expects the significant fire danger to continue and he's authorized all necessary public and private measures to be used to fight the wildfire threat.
