The commissioners accepted several donations at their Commissioners Court meeting. Those donations included a $1,000 donation for the county's bullet proof vest fund for the Sheriff's Office, and a $23,000 grant from the regional planning commission for radios.
"We are having to go to where they're call narrow banding," Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter told Big 2. "It used to be a band you had a certain wave and now instead of a single bandwidth, the narrowing to 1/4 bandwidth. So we have to have the stuff on our radio to do the narrow banding."
Existing radio bands are being bought up by cell phone companies, and law enforcement that can't make the adjustments could run into issues down the line.
