Judge Jon Wisser signed a temporary restraining order against the Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission. The commission was going to have a vote on January 4th to change the state compact. That change would allow 36 states to send radioactive waste to Waste Control Specialists in Andrews County for disposal.
Allegations had recently surfaced that the e-mail address meant to accept public comments before the vote was invalid. There was also concern that the comment period was scheduled over the holidays, when Texans are distracted.
