The crash happened at University and Westridge Drive at 10 PM on Saturday night. Ector County Sheriff's Deputy David Escudero was on his way to help another officer in a high speed chase when he hit a red SUV.
One of the passengers in the SUV Escudero hit was killed, while another was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries. That passenger's condition is currently unknown.
Escudero is listed in serious, but stable condition. He had surgery on his left leg, and is scheduled for surgery on his right leg later this week. He also broke some ribs in the crash.
