MIDLAND -- Two people from Midland are facing serious charges after they tried to bring marijuana into the Midland County Jail.

Brianna DeLeon, 20, and Daniel Matta, 20, are both charged with felonies for the alleged incidents.

DeLeon was arrested on December 23rd after she was pulled over by a Midland Police officer. The officer pulled over her Chevy Tahoe because it was missing a license plate light. According to an arrest affidavit, that officer arrested DeLeon and another passenger after searching the car and finding marijuana. But police say DeLeon also tried to sneak marijuana into the jail by keeping some wrapped in her notebook paper in her purse.

Meanwhile, Matta was arrested on December 26th after he was pulled over for having the same light out on his vehicle. A D.P.S. trooper found pot in his car as well and arrested him. Law enforcement officers say they also found marijuana in his jacket pocket when they booked him into the jail.

DeLeon and Matta are both charged with bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility.
