In most cases, police say people try to run away on foot, which isl a misdemeanor charge. But if you try to take off in a car, that's even more dangerous. And in 2007, that action was upgraded to a felony evading charge. Police say that evading arrest with a vehicle puts officers in a lot of danger, especially at night.
In December, there were 18 cases of evading arrest in the Tall City, and 23 arrests. Only 3 involved a vehicle.
