The three-member council, which was appointed by the Texas Transportation Commission, recommended new leadership for TXDOT. The council also said the agency should consolidate financial operations and communicate better with the public.
The council believes that Texans have lost confidence in the agency, and they recommend hiring a Chief Information Officer to oversee technology. While the council doesn't call for TXDOT's executive director to be replaced, they say the salary cap on the position should be removed to attract more candidates.
