MIDLAND -- A Midland man was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

Jared Anthony Morrison, 34, was sentenced yesterday in Midland. He will be on supervised release for 16 years after his term is up.

Morrison pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child in 2004 and was placed on probation. Then, he didn't tell authorities when he moved out of the state.

Morrison was arrested in Washington state after authorities found him sleeping in a van there. He was later extradited to Midland, where he pleaded guilty in October.

Meanwhile, Morrison's twin brother Jason is facing mail fraud charges in the Tall City for an alleged house flipping scheme. Jason Morrison is slated to stand trial in February.
