DALLAS  --  Southwest Airlines is reporting a net fourth quarter profit of 131-million-dollars.

That's up compared to 116-million-dollars for the fourth quarter of 2009.

The airline also reported its 38th consecutively year of profitability in 2010 at 459-million-dollars, compared to only 99-million dollars in 2009.

Southwest CEO Gary Kelly says the airline emerged from the worst decade in aviation history without losses, furloughs or a decline in customer experience.

Kelly says passenger revenues are up, but costs were also up in fourth quarter, largely due to a 13-percent jump in fuel costs per gallon.
