MIDLAND -- Most gas stations are pushing the $3 mark with some topping out at $3.05 a gallon. That leaves consumers with the question of "How high will these prices climb?"

Prices were pretty stable in 2010 but this has just given way for an uncertain 2011. The website gasbuddy.com lists the average in the Permian Basin at $2.99 a gallon -- which is up 41 cents from this time a year ago. And that is only supposed to go up.

Some experts believe that we may see the same trend as we did a few years ago when prices hit the 4 dollar mark. But a lot of that still depends on the economic recovery. I spoke with a gentleman today who is taking a deep hit with the rising prices.

"I'm self employed," said consumer Bob Kerr. "I use a lot a day, so 4 to 5,000 a month. So it affects me pretty good."
