After six and a half years as district judge of Ector County, Stacy Trotter is resigning. Now that leaves leaves a big chair empty in the Ector County Courthouse.

Already 4 men have stepped up to plate to fill the new vacancies. Municipal Court Judge Dennis Jones, Attorney James Rush, Former County Judge Jerry Caddel, and Deputy District Attorney Scott Layh.

Tonight the Republican Headquarters of Odessa conducted interviews with all four men, so that they could understand where they stand on issues. The meetings with the separate candidates was closed to the media.

“We are asking where they stand on issues and just delve a little further in than we have been able to. Get to know these gentlemen so we can make a wise recommendation to the governor. " Said Tisha Crow, Ector County Republican Chairman

Once the party leaders select their top candidate, he will be recommended by the party to the governor. The governor will weigh other recommendations, including those from county executives and county judges. Interviews with the four men will also take place in Austin and then the final decision will be made.
