AUSTIN -- Texas has said that some big changes were needed for TXDOT. Now, change is coming.

Two TXDOT officials have sent in their resignation. Executive Director Amadeo Saenz Jr. announced that he would retire at the end of August. The agency's Deputy Executive Director -- Steve Simmons -- has also said he will retire in late August.

These changes come as the Texas Legislature is trying to deal with billions in cutbacks to balance the budget.
