HOUSTON --  U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords continues to make notable progress at Houston's TIRR Memorial Hermann where her rehab efforts will now intensify.

Dr. Doug Kim says they've seen "daily improvements in her neurological condition."  He adds, "In terms of recovery for brain issues, this is really at lightning speed."  Meanwhile, Dr. Gerard Francisco says a team of physicians has assessed Giffords' overall status to determine the amount of physical, occupational, and speech therapy she will require.

The Democratic congresswoman was shot in the head on January 8th while meeting with constituents in Tucson, Arizona.

Gunfire left six others dead that day and over a dozen wounded.
