Crude oil prices jumped more than four-percent on concerns that violent protests in Egypt could become more widespread and threaten stability in the entire Middle East region.
Egypt is located near the world's key oil exporting nations and its Suez Canal serves as a strategic route for Persian Gulf oil shipments.
Light, sweet crude settled up three-dollars-70-cents at 89-dollars-34-cents a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
