MIDLAND -- A shocking story from a local McDonald's, after a report of a sexual assault. McDonald's is not giving out information at this time. But they gave Big 2 a statement saying they are fully cooperating with Midland Police and their investigation. They say they will continue to focus on serving their customers and providing them a safe and enjoyable restaurant experience.

The McDonald's on Midkiff and Loop 250 is still open for business even after Thursday's incident. Since the investigation is still ongoing, not much has been released except one interesting fact: The incident allegedly involved two employees of McDonalds. This is considered acquaintance rape, which is on the rise.

"Most women are victims of acquaintance rape and they don't fight back. because they know the know the person assaulting them and they can't believe someone they know and trust would rape them," said Jennifer Painter, Crime Liaison at Midland Police Department.

Eighty percent of all sexual assaults are committed by someone the victim knew, as was the case in the alleged incident at McDonald's. Painter says sexual assault at the workplace is not uncommon.

"People who you know you never expect it to be someone you know they never expect it to happen," said Painter. "And then all the sudden this person is there and they can't believe there doing this to them, they're shocked."

Midland Police are doing more to help victims of sexual assault.

"Our detectives go through several trainings they went to one the other day for increasing access to respond on domestic violence victims and sexual assault victims," added Painter. "It's a reminder of the law to use help prosecute the suspects ."

And the best way to prosecute a suspect to get the facts straight and listen.

"To listen to them and this is the most important thing a victim want, they want someone who listens," said Painter.
