MIDLAND -- Two Odessa residents will each be spending 2 and a half years behind bars for dealing cocaine.

Edgar Alfonso Lujan, 20, and Juan Jesus Vargas, 20, were sentenced Tuesday morning. Ector County Sheriff's deputies tried to pull over the pair for a traffic stop on August 30th in Odessa, after they got a tip that the two were dealing cocaine.

Vargas rammed the pickup that the two were being pulled over in into a police cruiser and then took off, leading police on a high speed chase through Odessa. At one point, Vargas and Lujan threw 141 grams of cocaine out the window of the truck, but a man in the area found the drugs and turned them over to police.

Lujan and Vargas pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine charges in November.
